It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Donald Beckett passed away Oct 19, 2011. As you know, Don fought courageously to defeat cancer so it is important that his story be shared. His legacy will live on through all who knew him. Thank you for your continual support during this time of mourning.

ReplyDeleteI've been following his blog since my husband was diagnosed with stage iv esophageal cancer in early April. He had several chemo treatments to buy some time. It worked on the lymph nodes, but the tumor is growing. After many hospital stays mainly due to pleural and pericardial effusions, he has been home now for a month with drain tubes in both lungs and his pericardium. We receive Hospice care twice a week. Swallowing food becomes harder each day with sticky mucous coming up after most things he tries to eat. It breaks my heart that he's suffering so. How did you keep your spirits up?
